Alice Marie Leduc

September 5, 1930 — April 21, 2018

Our much loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Alice Marie (Matchinski) LeDuc, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the age of 87, in the comfort of her own home with her two loving sons, Kim and Kirk, at her side. Alice was born on September 5, 1930 in Engadine, MI to the late Albert and Anna Matchinski. Alice was a farm girl growing up on a dairy farm that her parents owned, helping with all of the chores and with the raising of her siblings, she was the oldest. Alice upon completion of high school in Engadine moved to Ypsilanti to attend college. While at Cleary College, she met her future love of her life, the late Alton LeDuc. Alice and Alton spent their honeymoon in Florida after being married on January 27, 1951 in Ypsilanti with friends and family. They fell in love with the state of Florida and spent the next 58 winters there. They ended up married for 66 wonderful years.

Alice had a full life raising her two sons and being a housewife. She still found time for all kinds of volunteer work. She was a 50 year volunteer at Tolfree Memorial Hospital in West Branch. She worked with the Red Cross in various positions, including the blood drive, where she received many gallon donation pins through the years. She also enjoyed helping at the St. John Lutheran Church when anything needed to be done, where she was a member. She helped out her husband by running the offices at the Twin Pines Mobile Home Park and The Crapo Hills Golf Course which they owned. Alice and Alton always enjoyed their time together by square dancing, traveling with a travel trailer, and going on cruises. Being a snowbird for over 50 years, Alice had a large group of friends in Florida as well. Her oldest son lived there with three of her grandchildren and the grandchildren in return gave her 8 great grandchildren to love on.

Alice is survived by her sons, Kim (Lynn) and Kirk. She is also the beloved grandmother of Tiffany (David) Newman, Kellie (James) McHone, Kortney LeDuc, Kristine (Robert) Schneider, and step granddaughter, Venus Lynn Barnhard. She also had the sweet love of her great grandchildren, Ethan, Oliver, Isabelle Newman, Preston, Parker, and Jameson McHone, Andres, Hannah, Sophia, and Alice and Annabelle Schneider. Alice is survived by sisters, Joyce LeGualt, Sandi Murray, and brothers, Dennis Matchinski and Kenneth Matchinski. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Lavern Smith.
Alice’s kindness, generosity, and devotion to her family and friends will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Meme will be missed greatly by her grandchildren.

No memorial service is planned, but a kind thought and prayers would be much appreciated for Alice.

The family of Alice LeDuc would like to express their sincere gratitude to Amey Moeggenborg and all the employees at Evergreen Clinic and Compassus Hospice for their excellent care at this difficult time.
