Floyd Monard Iverson

Floyd Monard Iverson, age 72, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at his home in Grayling, MI with his family by his side. He lived in Grayling since 1989, formerly of GA. Floyd was born on May 13, 1947 in Munising, MI to Floyd R. and Mildred (Humphrey) Iverson. He married Ena “Delores” Chapinski in St. Helen on September 29, 1990. He served in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class while serving in the Vietnam War. Floyd was a member of the VFW Post 5680 as a Commander and a District II Commander. He was also a 4th Degree Knight, Past Grand Knight and Color Corp with the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Floyd is survived by his children, David (Lenna) Rorie of AZ, Debra (Michael) Frieders of MI, Dana Hankes of NV, Dawn Robinson of IL, Samantha (Lloyd) Yelton, IL, Brian (Kim) Duncan, MI, Ethel Moore of MI, Louis (Pam) Matteson of MI, Darla Holmun of IA, Darl (Lois) Matteson of MI, Orrin (Mary) Matteson of MI, Lexine (Tim) Boyes of MI and Cheryl Keene of MI; grandchildren, Peter P. Iverson, Samantha Iverson and Jennifer Iverson; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and siblings, Emil Iverson of MI, Eva Lohr of KY, Judy Maxon of MI, Ivan (Roxie) Iverson of MI, Robert Iverson of MI and Earl (Pat) Iverson of GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 28 years, Ena “Delores”, children, Peter Iverson, Raymond Smith, and Alberta Sherman, grandchildren, Leo Matteson, James Keene, Arrianna Gonzalez, Christine Cross, Jeremy Jackson, and Larry Jackson, and sister, Julie Weird.

Visitation for Floyd will be held with precautions due to the current pandemic, limiting the number of attendees at a given time.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A private family funeral mass will be held at the St. Helen Catholic Church with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in St. Helen. Father Wayne Dziekan and Sister Barbara Matievich O.P. will officiate.
