Adelbert “Dell” Vaughan, age 72 passed away at his home April 11, 2010. He was born June 24, 1937 in Flint. Mr. Vaughan had lived in the Rose City-Lupton area since 1973, formerly of Clio. He was a member of the Eagles Club of West Branch and the American Legion. Dell was the creator, host and producer of the “Michigan Magazine” television show, creator and editor of “Michigan Magazine” and founder of the Michigan Magazine Museum. He served 3 years in the United States Marine Corp. Dell enjoyed fishing and his family was very important to him. Dell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Garneta Vaughan of Rose City, children, Jeffery (Tracy) Vaughan of Traverse City, Cindy Basalone of Grawn and daughter-in-law Diane Vaughan of Hope, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Lawson (Evelyn) Vaughan of Farwell, his sister, Beverly (Bob) Kuehl of Punta Gorda, FL, his mother-in-law Doris Painter of Houghton Lake and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Adelbert “Dell” Vaughan and his parents Harold and Evelyn Vaughan. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 3-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the funeral home. Pastor Cindy Gibbs will officiate with burial following at Kittle Cemetery in Mio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
