Agnes Marie Zimmer

Agnes Marie Zimmer of Whittemore, formerly of Sage Lake, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the age of 77, surrounded by her family. Agnes was born November 19, 1927 in Pennsylvania to the late Andrew and Isabella (Simon) Eger. Mrs. Zimmer was the former owner of Battle Alley in Holly, Michigan. She moved to Ogemaw County in 1976 and began working for Trio Council on Aging where she retired. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, an auxiliary member of the VFW Post, enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing bingo in her retired years. She is survived by her children: daughter, Chyrl Grubaugh of Whittemore; and sons David (Valerie) Zimmer, Peter (Jody) Zimmer both of Lupton; nine grandchildren: Rhonda (LeWayne) Provoast, Thomas (Linda) Henski, Christina Schaub, Theresa Grubaugh, David (Sadie) Zimmer, Amy (Tom) Masters, Wayne Zimmer, Keith Zimmer, Lesley Zimmer; ten great-grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Kortnee, Travis, Victoria, Andrew, Vanessa, Madison, Aiden, Tommy. Sister-in-laws Cecilia (Bruce) Merrill, Margaret (Frank) Gardner, her nieces, nephews, friends and “mother” to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adalbert, her parents Andrew and Isabella, sister Ann, brother Elwood, brother-in-law Bernard and wife Edith. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Pius X Catholic Church in Hale with Rev. Fr. August Franczek presiding, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, September 14, Mrs. Zimmer will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes. May eternal rest grant unto Her, O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon Agnes. Amen. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph Health System Home Health Care and Hospice for their caring and compassionate care of Agnes and her family.
