Alberta Lucille (Leavitt) Douglas O’Shay, age 82 of Lupton, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Bortz Health Care in Rose City. Mrs. O’Shay was born March 21, 1926 to Rodney and Dota Ann (Riggs) Leavitt in Irons, MI. She had lived in Lupton since 1989, formerly of South Lyon and Whitmore Lake. Alberta was a member of the Eastern Stars and the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel for 15 years. She enjoyed butterflies, gardening and being with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Alberta is survived by her husband, Alphonse O’Shay of Lupton, children, Mary (Sam) Curry of Grand Rapids, James (Sharie) Douglas of Jackson, Rodney (Shelly) Douglas of Tampa, FL, Walter (Penny) Douglas of Ann Arbor and Margaret VanAlstine of Bellaire, grandchildren; Lesa VanLiere (Aaron Johnson), Janet (Chris) Doucette, Sara (Bryan) Keast, Mark Van Alstine and Lindsey Douglas, 4 great-grandchildren, Emily, Mary, Lily and Evelyn, stepchildren; Terri (Larry) of Florida, Sharon and Ellie both of Detroit, 9 step-grandchildren, her sisters, Adeline Kisosondi of Grand Haven and Olive Lawton of Grand Rapids, sister in law, Eva Kaczmarek of Rose City, brother in law, Leroy Tanner of Bay City, special nephew, Stan Kaczmarek of Rose City and her special friend, Margaret Smith of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter in law, Susan Douglas. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009 until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Rev.Donald J. Wojewski will officiate.
