Arline Elizabeth Whitmire

Arline Elizabeth Whitmire, age 92, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2022 at her home in Alger, MI surrounded by her family. She was born on October 25, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Royal and Thelma (Monroe) Flesher. She lived in Alger for the past 8 years formerly of Montrose, MI.

Arline graduated from Northern Flint High School. She was a bookkeeper for Whitmire Management and the firm handled bookkeeping for over 26 major car dealerships. She held a treasurer position on the Westwood Heights School Board and the Flint Park United Methodist Church. Arline was also a bookkeeper for YWCA in Flint. She retired after working for over 43 years.

She enjoyed her time bird watching and collecting bird related items, book clubs, bible study, Diamond Art, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arline is survived by her son, Donald Eugene (Tami) Whitmire of Alger; grandson, Donald Jasun (Tara) Whitmire of Montrose; granddaughter, Katlin (Billy) Stiles of Gaylord, MI; and great granddaughters, Brynn and Paige Whitmire of Montrose.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald A. Whitmire, and daughter Karen Whitmire.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and the wonderful caregivers, Amy, Kim, Amber, and Tanya for the care Arline received during her final months.

Visitation at Alger United Methodist Church in Alger, MI will begin on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Cheryl Mancier will officiate. Burial will be at Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, MI at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alger United Methodist Church.
