Arthur E. Hanes

Arthur E. Hanes, age 94, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at The Brook in West Branch, MI. He was born on April 25, 1924 in Gladwin County to Rolla and Nora (Shellenbarger) Hanes. Arthur had lived in West Branch since 1951, formerly of Gladwin. He served in the United States Army 95th Infantry during WWII. He worked for GH Johnson in St. Helen as a contractor building homes in Michigan and also worked with his son, Charles Hanes at C.A. Hanes Builders. He was very particular in building homes. Arthur enjoyed gardening, hunting, and taking his grandchildren fishing. He was known as quite a prankster.

Arthur is survived by his daughters, Connie (Walter) Trout of West Branch and Patty (Richard) Dack of West Branch; grandchildren, Rick (Raychelle) Trout, Tricia (Eric) Reed, Bobby (Tiana Collins) Dack, Jonathon (Tony Popma) Hanes, Stephanie (Tommy) Gordon; and great-grandchildren, Courtney (Corbin Mitchell) Reed, Alec (Cassidy VanWormer) Reed, Dawson Dack, Tucker Dack, Keara Wangler, and Alexandria Gordon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia Hanes in 2012, son, Charles Hanes in 2008 and grandson, Chad Dack in 1997.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Edwards Township Hall on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with military honors.

Burial of ashes will take place for Arthur and Virginia at Brookside Cemetery in West Branch at a later date.
