Ascenzio "Jim" Accomando passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at the West Branch Regional Medical Center at the age of 76. Jim has lived in Rose City for the past 20 years previously of Madison Heights. Jim was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and was active in the KofC and was a former 4th degree knight and honor guard. Jim also belonged to the Lions club in Rose City. He loved cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling. Jim worked for Detroit Edison and retired in 1989 with 23 years of service. Surviving family include his wife of 52 years Christine Accomando of Rose City, 7 children Debbie (Paul) Sword of Rio Grande, Ohio, Maria (Ken) Bender of Westcliffe, Colorado, Steve (Joyce) Accomando of Center Line, John (Susan) Accomando of Lake Orion, Ruth (Pete) Franzoni of Algonac, Kathleen (Gary) Hallas of Sterling Heights, and David Accomando of Rochester Hills. 11 grand children and 8 great grand children. Sisters Anna Vassallo of Clinton Township, Sara (Bob) Marrone of Corona, Calif, brother Joe Accomando of Long Beach, Calif. He is preceded in death by sisters Bess Mazzara and Mary Giambusso. Visitation will be held Sunday May 3, 2009 from 3-9 PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of mass. Father Miro D. Wiese OFM will officiate. Burial will be held Tuesday at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
