Austin B. Basham

Austin B. Basham, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Alger, MI with his family by his side. Austin has lived in West Branch for most of his life. He was born to Gerald and Ruth (Kurzrock) Basham in West Branch, MI on April 12, 1944. Austin was a life member of the NRA, a CCW Instructor, and served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965. He was a jack of all trades and always would lend a helping hand to friends.

Austin is survived by his daughter: Theresa (Matt) Richardson of Dayton, OH; grandsons: Ethan and Asher; sisters: Gerry (Ron) Falkner of Howell, MI, and Patty Sue (Jack) Underhill of Green Valley, AZ; mother of his children: Helen (Bob) Miller of Oklahoma City, OK; companion: Judy McPherson and her family; and many nieces and nephews. Austin also had many special friends: David Yantz, Janet Blanchard, Steve Robinson, Bill Meier, and many others as well as his furry friend, Mister Whiskers. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Jerry.

Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, September 27, 2014 starting at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Tom Teall will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
