Barbara A. Johnson

Barbara A. Johnson, age 75 of St. Helen passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born August 14, 1936 in Sterling, MI to John and Verna Lucas. She had lived in St. Helen since 1989, formerly of Clio. Barbara was a past president of Helping Hands, treasurer of Lake St. Helen Baptist Church and president of W.M.U. She enjoyed baking, gardening, crafts, fishing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her husband Jerry Johnson of St. Helen, children, Allen Johnson of Millington, Susan Smagacz of Sterling Heights and Brenda (Michael) Soyring of Magnolia, TX, her grandchildren, Shayla, Emily, Ryan, Ashley, Aric and Jared and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers, 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 3-9 p.m. On Monday, Barbara will lie in state at the Lake St. Helen Baptist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Roger Green will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
