Carlea C. Gawne, age 79, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 in Traverse City, MI. Lee has lived in the West Branch area since 1948. Lee will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her faith in God, her warm smile and willing heart to help others. Lee was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Branch for over 50 years. Family, faith and music were an important part of her life. She attended Wayne State University and was so proud to have worked at Tolfree Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aide for 12 years. She also worked many years as a Teache'rs Aide for the Whittemore-Prescott School. Lee is survived by her daughter Carol (Joe) Brzezinski nee White of Traverse City, 4 Step-sons Dick (Jean) Gawne of Hale, Ron (Sonna) Gawne of Prescott, Larry (Sharon) Gawne of Herron and Jim (Lealla) Gawne of Prescott. 18 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Aunt and Uncle Margie and Carl Hayes of West Branch, Niece Nancy Medogrol of Largo, FL and Cousin Darlene Burke of Charlevoix and special friend, Lester Bergeron. She was preceded in death by her parents- Carl S. and Marianne Holecheck and Constance and Oscar Gustafson, second husband- George W. Gawne, grandson- Ronnie Lee Gawne, great granddaughter- Madison Noffze, great grandsons- Dylan Gawne and Kyle Gawne, and brother- Robert Holecheck and nephew Robert E. Hollecheck. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2007 from 4-8 PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. The funeral will be held Wednesday January 31, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. Burial will take place at Richland Cemetery in Prescott. Rev. Mary Lynch Mallory will officiate.
