David Allen Mclaughlin

July 21, 1948 — June 25, 2015

David Allen McLaughlin, 66 of West Branch, passed away June 25, 2015 at his brother’s residence with his family at his side. David was born July 21, 1948 in Detroit. The son of the late Benjamin and Eleanor (Holtzman) McLaughlin. A childhood illness prevented him from doing many things that most people are able to do, but he endured with a smile on his face, a pleasant word and a damaged but happy heart.

He was a retired certified gemologist from Fred Myers Jewelers located at the Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, MI. He was quite the salesman with his personable demeanor and humorous sales tactics. His ambitious and competitive nature afforded him many prizes including a Mercedes SUV for top sales in the nation. He enjoyed bingo and gambling at the casino. In his spare time he could be found fishing with his brothers on Lake St. Clair or playing cards with his family.

Surviving are his siblings Nancy McLaughlin of Clinton Township, Dennis of Punta Gorda Florida, Kenneth (Nancy) of West Branch, Michael of Mio, Joyce Gordon of St. Helen, Kevin (Karin) of Mio, Jerry (Gilda) of West Branch, Lisa McLaughlin of St. Helen, half-sister Vivian McClain of Cape Coral Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Eleanor McLaughlin, brother Ronald, sister Linda, and half-sister Leatrice Lackie, niece Michelle McLaughlin, and nephew Joshua Irelan.

There will be a celebration of life to be determined at a later date.

Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI.
