David E. Judkins

David E. Judkins, age 73, of West Branch, went to the arms of his loving and gracious Heavenly Father on Friday, November 9, 2007. David had lived in the West Branch area since 1968, formerly of Mentor, Ohio. He joined the Boy Scouts at the age of 12 and served as a past scout master, explorer advisor and district commissioner, retiring after 30 years with the Detroit Area Boy Scouts as a ranger. He was a member and deacon of the Skidway Lake Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion Post #370 of Skidway Lake and a life member of the N.R.A. He served 34 years as chief of the Mills Township Fire Department and 27 years with the Mills Township area ambulance. He also worked for the Ogemaw County Sheriff Department in the early 1970's. David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Judkins of West Branch, daughters; Linda Judkins of Chesterton, IN, Sandra (Kirk) Frey of Rose City and Jeannette Nichols of Port Huron. He was preceded in death by his son, David R. Judkins. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 1:00 p.m at the Skidway Lake Baptist Church, 4250 Lucinda Drive, Prescott, MI. Pastor Russell Schmidt will officiate.
