Derwood Grant Ockerman

Derwood Grant Ockerman , age 89 passed way peacefully on April 21, 2018 with his beloved wife by his side. Derwood was born on June 6, 1928 to Roy and Rose (Crips) Ockerman in Flint, Michigan. He has lived in West Branch for 22 years previously of Venice, FL, and Gladwin, MI. He was a faithful member of the St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch. He worked for Dow Chemical in Midland for 37years. Derwood loved trout fishing, wood carving, and traveling especially his trips with his wife to Alaska and Europe.

Derwood is survived by his wife Martha, they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this November. He is also survived by his children Marvin (Pam) Ockerman of West Branch, Debra (Charles) Grabow of Palmetto, FL, 4 grandchildren Jeff Cameron of Saginaw, Jennifer Coon of North Carolina, Jamie (Lacey) Cameron of Gladwin, and Travis (Christen) Ockerman of West Branch. He has 6 great grandchildren, and a sister Wanda Mennega. Derwood is preceded in death by his parents, a son Dr. Bruce Ockerman, and brother Glenn Ockerman.

Visitation for Derwood will begin on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4-9PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. His funeral will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00AM at the St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch. Pastor Howard Travis will officiate. Interment will be at the Ridge Cemetery in Gladwin.
