Donald Earl Rubert, age 71 of West Branch, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Mr. Rubert was born on April 27, 1935 in Detroit, MI and lived in Livonia before moving to Indian River when he was in the 10th grade. He graduated from Indian River High School and Radio Electronics Technical School. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force after serving in Tripoli, Libya. Mr. Rubert was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Cadillac, The Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Disabled American Veterans- the Paralyzed Veterans of America , and the AmVets. He retired in 1977 from Fetzer Broadcasting Co. (9&10 News) after 17 years. He was a licensed electronics engineer and Ham Radio operator. His passions were family, friends and electronics. Mr. Rubert is survived by his wife, Nancy Rubert of West Branch, daughters, Pamela (Dan) Manning of Lachine, Dr. Cynthia (Mark) Rubert-Briggs of West Branch and Jennifer Rubert of Hillman, 2 grandsons, Benjamin and Sam and his brothers, Gerald (Nancy) Rubert and Norman (Sue) Rubert both of Indian River. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, June14, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the funeral home. Rev. Dan Stoneback will officiate. Burial will be at Campbell Corners Cemetery in West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 21311 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 48076; the Disabled American Veterans, 17779 14 Mile Road, Fraser, MI 48026 or the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 40550 Grand River Avenue, Novi, MI 48375.
