Doris Mae Smith

Doris M. Smith, age 90 of West Branch, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at The Brook of West Branch. Doris was born on June 7, 1932 to Eldon and Elizabeth (Soufflet) Pray in West Branch. She lived in West Branch her whole life. Doris was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Women’s Society. She retired from Food Service at Ogemaw Heights High School. Doris enjoyed her family, going to the casino, cooking, and baking cookies.

Doris is survived by her children, Vicky Rodgers of Goodland, Florida, Patrick (Julie) Miller of Birch Run, Vern (Janet) Smith of Alger, Debra (John) Kowalewski of Burt, Diane Craft of Clio, and Lori (Dwayne) DeVault of Roscommon; 21 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are daughters-in-law, Margaret of Missouri, Teresa of Florida, and Kathy of Sterling.

She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Thomas Miller, 2nd husband, Norman Smith; sons, David, Norman, Nelson, and Jerry; parents, Eldon and Elizabeth Pray; brothers, Lee, Bill, and Pat Pray; and sister Velma Thorne.

Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Endowment Fund.
