Dorothy Irene (Davis) Matthews, age 86 of Lupton, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Bortz Health Care in Rose City. Dorothy was born on April 6, 1923 in Eldorado, Illinois to William and Edith Davis. She moved to Roseville and married Donald Matthews on May 22, 1943. They moved to Lupton where they raised their family. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a good friend to many. Dorothy loved the Lord and served Him cheerfully. She belonged to the Lupton Friends Church. Dorothy worked at the former Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Rose City plus in later years was the Deputy Treasurer for Rose Township. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Colleen (David) Trapp of Grand Rapids, Peggy (George) Jueckstock of Grand Ledge and David Matthews of Norristown, PA, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister Marie Cannon of Traverse City and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Donald Matthews, a grandson, Christopher Matthews, her sisters, Wilma Davis, Helen Weeks, Elizabeth Marshall and her brothers William and John Davis. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 4-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Lupton Friends Church in Lupton. Pastor Jack Rice and Pastor Matthew Smith will officiate with burial following at Lane Heights Cemetery, Lupton. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch or to the Lupton Friends Church.
