Ella "Marion" L. Schilke

October 7, 1924 — September 16, 2016

Ella “Marion” (Lamb) Schilke was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully at her home with family members at her side Friday, September 16, 2016. She was born October 7, 1924 in Idaho and adopted as a newborn infant by loving parents Charles and Ella Lamb and was raised in Pocatello, ID. She married her high school sweetheart, Ervin, on May 9, 1943 and after WWII, they moved to Rochester, Michigan in 1946 where they raised four children.

Marion was baptized as a teenager at Grace Lutheran, Pocatello. She was active in Walther League, where she met Ervin. Through the years, Marion was active in the Lutheran Church as a choir member and LWML member. She did substitute teaching and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oakland University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Later in life Marion found and met her biological siblings. In 1972, Marion and Erv moved to West Branch and bought land which they developed into Greenwood Campground and Troll Landing Canoe Livery.

Marion is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, Ervin Schilke, and their children Steve (Sharon) Schilke of Bay City, MI; Carol (Mike) Curtis of West Branch, MI; Martha (Rich) Grant of Memphis, MI; and Linda (Dennis) LaTulip of West Branch, MI; grandchildren Mark (Raechel ) Schilke, Dawn Shea, John Cardinell, Camille Craig, Scott (Laura) Grant, James (Sunshine) LaTulip, Jason LaTulip, Brett LaTulip, Michael (Kris) LaTulip, Brian (Kim) LaTulip, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Marion is also survived by her brothers, Jay Flanders of Utah and Jim Flanders of Arizona, and sister Shirley Haflam of Utah. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Charles Lamb, sisters Betty and Margaret, greatgrandchildren Tabitha Cardinell and Jeffrey Craig.

Visitation for Marion will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Steuernol and McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch from 3 - 8PM. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch. Pastor Howard Travis will officiate. Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Twp., MI.

Memorial Contributions can be made to LWML – Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
