Gary Jerome Theunick

Gary Jerome Theunick, age 73, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at his home in West Branch, MI. He lived in West Branch for the past 45 years, formerly of Saginaw, MI.

Gary was born on October 2, 1948 in Pontiac, MI to Gerald and Emmogene (Chastain) Theunick.

On October 7, 1978 he married Diane Zarr in Alpena, MI.

He graduated from Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI in 1966. After high school, Gary attended Lawrence Tech and Saginaw Valley State University maintaining a 4.0 gpa. He continued with his schooling and attended Cooley Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor degree. Gary was a police officer for the City of Saginaw, Assistant Prosecutor of Ogemaw and Newago Counties and worked at the Oakland County Sheriff Office.

Gary enjoyed hunting, golfing, writing, reading, nature and traveling to the Alaska Denali State Park.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane Theunick of West Branch; sons, Greg (Amanda) Theunick of Midland, MI and Chris (Lisa) Theunick of Mattawan, MI; four grandchildren; sister, Sandra Theunick of Denver, CO; and many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Gary’s sister, Sandra Theunick, an interfaith minister, will officiate.
