George Arthur Ranney Jr., age 76, passed away at his home in South Branch on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He lived in South Branch and Ogemaw County all of his life.
George “Geo” was born on November 16, 1944 in West Branch to George and Carrie (Conway) Ranney Sr. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was full of life and loved working for the CSX Railroad out of Flint, MI. He also loved being there for everyone. Geo was a great guy and would give the shirt off his back for anyone.
Geo is survived by his only daughter, Autumn (Chris) Matts; grandchildren, Hunter and Gabby Houck; brother, Kelvin (Judi) Ranney; sisters in law, Stacey (Jack) Dunn, Karen Matts, Cindy Muma; brothers in law, Ray (Kathy) Matts, and Kenneth Matts; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kelvin Ranney, sisters, Candace Ranney and Cheryl Darcy Ranney, the love of his life, Debra Rae Matts, and nephews, Craig Beyer, BJ Andreini, and Conrad Pustelnik.
