Gerald Ray Stahl

Gerald Ray Stahl, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, MI. He lived in West Branch for the past 45 years, formerly of Prescott, MI.

He was born on November 25, 1946 in St. Clair Shores, MI to Elsworth and Doris (Crook) Stahl.

Gerald graduated from Whittemore Prescott High School in 1964 and married Sandra Niemi on September 12, 1964 in Prescott.

Gerald began his newspaper publishing career by working for a newspaper company in Detroit, MI using a Linotype machine. He moved back to Prescott in 1969 and took a job with the Ogemaw County Herald as the press manager. In 1987, he bought the Alcona Newspaper in Harrisville. After 4 years, he sold the Alcona Newspaper and returned to the Ogemaw Herald. After several years, he left the Ogemaw Herald and went to the Morning Sun, where he retired in 2008. He enjoyed his retirement camping, golfing, trips to casinos, watching movies with his family, and enjoying hanging with his family at parties.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Stahl of West Branch; daughter, Karen (Tom) Bell of Saginaw, MI; sons, Matt (Chris) Stahl of Traverse City, MI and Mike (Stephanie) Stahl of West Branch; grandchildren, Branden (Laura), Cody (Samantha), Travis (Maria), Brittney, Cassie, Mikey, Johnny, and Sunny; great grandchildren, Bella, Ellie, Jackson, and AJ; brother, Mark (Claudia) Stahl and Dave (Cindy) Stahl; sister, Alice Hartsell; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jimmy, and brother-in-law, Marshall.

Visitation at Faith Alive Church in West Branch will begin on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Chad Deerman will officiate.
