Geraldine Louise Chrivia

Geraldine Louise Chrivia, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at The Brook in West Branch surrounded by her family. She was born on September 18, 1928, in West Branch to Raymond and Ada (Wangler) Trout. Geraldine lived in West Branch her entire life.

Geraldine graduated from West Branch High School. She married Jack Chrivia and they started their family. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Geraldine volunteered with Hospice of Helping Hands. She enjoyed playing cards, camping, gardening, sewing, doing yardwork and feeding and watching the birds.

Geraldine is survived by her daughters Pamela Hodges of Traverse City, MI and Julia (Donald) Vitkuske Davis of Howell, MI; grandchildren Tony (Kerry) Benjamin, Tammy Benjamin, Derek Chrivia, Danielle (Greg) Spitler, Tommy Newton, Elly (Rich) Chrzan, John (Alicia) Vitkuske, Alexander (Jordan) Vitkuske, Brittanie (Kevin) Morgan, and Zachary Vitkuske; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sister Roberta Smith; brother James Trout; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Terry Chrivia, daughter Linda Ellsworth, son-in-law John Vitkuske, and sisters Patsy Marshall and Gloria Thompson.

The funeral mass will be at Holy Family Catholic Church in West Branch on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will be at Selkirk Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Brook for the years of care and nurses and staff at Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care for Geraldine.
