Gloria Jean Briese

Gloria Jean (Lynn) Briese, age 79, passed away peacefully at The Villa Nursing Home in West Branch on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with her wonderful nursing aides at her side.

She was born in Detroit, MI on November 7, 1941 to Maynard and Alice (Westphall) Lynn.

Gloria married James Briese Sr. on June 18, 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waltz, MI and lived in Flat Rock, MI. Later, she moved to the West Branch area in 1992, following her husband’s job with the Ogemaw County Building Department. She retired from Coyles Restaurant in 2002 and loved to travel, making two trips to Alaska and spending many winters in Florida.

Gloria is survived by her husband, James Briese Sr.; son, James Briese Jr.; daughter, A’Lisa Holtschlag; grandsons, Austin and Noah Holtschlag; brothers, Richard and James; sister, Darla Kay; step-brother, David; and step-sister, Marilyn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Bertha Lynn, sister, Jackalyn, and brother, Dennis.
