Grace Juanita Lindsey

Grace Juanita Lindsey, age 98, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at her home in St. Helen, MI. Juanita lived in St. Helen since 1978 previously of Auburn Heights (Auburn Hills). Juanita graduated high school from the Cass City School system. After graduation, she moved to the Pontiac area to work in the auto factory. It was there that she met her soon to be husband Clyde. Juanita and Clyde married in 1943 and they raised their family in the Auburn Heights area before retiring and moving north. One of her favorite jobs was working for the Auburn Heights school in the cafeteria for over 20 years.

Juanita has been a long time and oldest member of the St. Helen Community Baptist Church. She also enjoyed the company at the St. Helen Senior Center, and was actively delivering meals on wheels well into her 80’s. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and playing Wii bowling. She also loved adventures, especially parasailing in 1994, and walking the Mackinac Bridge numerous times.

Juanita is survived by her son James (Sherrie) Lindsey of Hernando Beach, FL; daughters Sandra (Lou) Whetstone of the Villages, FL; Marsha (Jim) Krist of Kalkaska, MI; and Claudia Lindsey of Ithaca, MI. She has 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren, along with a sister Marion Hurley of Carsonville, MI. Juanita has numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, son, Tommy, and siblings, Harry Wise, Max Wise, Andrew Wise, and Cora Wilson.

A graveside service will be held Monday, July 26, 2021, at the Fairview Cemetery in St. Helen at 2:00 p.m. Her longtime pastor and friend, Pastor Ken Peterson of the St. Helen Community Baptist Church will officiate.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter or the St. Helen Community Baptist Church.
