Harry Eugene Barton

December 30, 1930 — April 25, 2015

Harry Eugene Barton, 84 of West Branch passed away April 25, 2015 at the Bortz Health Care in West Branch. He was born in Midland, Michigan to Herman and Elsie (Ringler) Barton on December 30, 1930. United in marriage to Jeanette L. (Briggs) Barton on December 17, 1949. Following Jean’s death Harry met his loving companion, Shirley Dankert, whom he would spend his remaining years with. Harry worked for the Rail Road since the age of 14, eventually becoming a supervisor. His career with the rail road took him many places throughout the country. After retirement Harry and Jean enjoyed traveling and found a place in Texas where they enjoyed spending the majority of the winter months. One of his favorite hobbies he enjoyed was fishing, especially while in Texas.

Surviving Harry is his loving companion Shirley Dankert of Prudenville, daughters: Wanda (Gary Kaiser) Muzik, Irene (Lyle) Smith, sons: Allan (Ann) Barton, and Terry (Kim Montbriand) Barton all of West Branch; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sisters: Eileen Steckling and Judy Doud both of St. Helen. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette in 2005, grandson, Allan Barton Jr., parents Herman and Elsie Barton, siblings: Mary Allice Beach, Fred Barton, Bob Barton, Dick Barton, Albert Barton, Helen Barton and Hank Barton.

Per Harry’s wishes he will be cremated and his family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Harry will be laid to rest next to his wife Jean at the Ogemaw Springs Cemetery in West Branch.
