Helen Louise Hemminger Weesner passed away February 4, 2013 at Bortz Health Care of West Branch, where she has resided for the past 7 years. She was born to the late Chester and Louise (Woodward) Hemminger on August 18, 1917 in Elkhart, Indiana. She graduated from Elkhart High School in June of 1935 and served as Miss Elkhart in the same year. She travelled to Chicago that year to represent Elkhart in the Miss Indiana pageant. On November 29, 1936 she married her sweetheart, Berneil Bradford Weesner. They spent 68 years together and produced three children. The two places that won her heart were Chicago, Illinois and Birch Lake in Vandalia, Michigan. She and Bernie moved to Chicago in 1951 and remained there until Bernie retired in 1965. She held many jobs in the city and did much volunteerism in Oak Park. They always had their home on Birch Lake and Helen spent every summer there until they moved there permanently upon retirement. She will be most remembered for her kind heart and positive attitude about life. She will be missed by many. Helen is survived by Lance Neil Weesner (Barbara) from Elmhurst, Ill., Lynn Bradford Weesner (Ann) from San Antonio, Tx. and Leslie Weesner Pattullo (Douglas) from West Branch, Michigan, her grandchildren: Lindsay Weesner, Bradford Pattullo, Jamie Pattullo Ward, Lynn (Brad) Weesner, Jr., Jennifer Weesner Young, Erika Weesner, Neil Weesner and Samantha Weesner. She also has 11 great-grandchildren.
