Irvin D. Meyers

Irvin D. "Monk" Meyers, age 79, of West Branch, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2006. Formerly of Richmond, he had lived in West Branch for several years. Mr. Meyers served in the U.S. Navy as a 3rd Class Petty Officer on the ship, U.S.S. Bellona. He was a veteran of WWII and was in Iwo Jima, among other ports. Mr. Meyers is survived by his wife, Sandy, their children, Eileen (Bill) Petty of St. Clair Shores, Vicki (Ken) Szatkowski of North Carolina, Mike (Kathy) Meyers and Jeff Parkinson both of Lapeer, Jamie (Tammy) Parkinson of Gladwin and Jill (our guardian angel) Parkinson of East Tawas, 6 grandchildren, Matt (Jamie) Trombley, Ronnie Whitmore and Lindsay Whitmore all of St. Clair Shores, Joel and Tyler Meyers of Lapeer and Jesse (Marshane) Holth of Bremerton, WA, two step-grandchildren, Scott and Josh Hagenbaugh of Gladwin, two great-grandchildren, Elli Trombley of St. Clair Shores and Marek Holth of Bremerton, WA. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Vera Kaiser, brothers-in-law, Gary and Wes Kaiser, sisters-in-law, Claudia Kaiser and Jan Hitchcock all of West Branch, Nancy Kaiser of Atlanta and Elaine Hartwick of Topinabee, nieces and nephews, Gary and Missy Kaiser, Lauri and Greg Landry of Roseville, Dave and Doug Hotham of West Branch, Darrel and Dinah Dossin of Armada, Dave and Gidget Dossin of Otter Lake, Dina and Pat Withey of Caseville, grand-nieces and nephews, Madison and Megan Kaiser of West Branch, Carly and Garrett Landry of Roseville, Darrel Dossin Jr. , Sherri, Derek, Samantha and Paige Dossin of Caseville and our dearest friends, Dan and Mary Beth Blaszczyk of Lake Ogemaw and Jack Prior and family of Algonac. Mr. Meyers was preceded in death by his first wife Noreen, his parents, Leon and Flora Meyers, both sets of grandparents and his father-in-law, Floyd Kaiser. The family requests no flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family or the VFW Post #6802 of Richmond, MI. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch with visitation from 9:00a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the VFW service at 1:30 p.m. and the eulogy by his grandson, Pastor Matt Trombley. Mr. Meyers will be buried in Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, MI.
