James G. Heim 76 of West Branch, died November 14, 2008 at Bortz Health Care Facility. Jim was born on March 16, 1932 to Glen and Thelma Heim. On October 17, 2002 he married Eveline Dice Treat in West Branch. She survives Jim. Also surviving is his daughter, Mary Ellen Koliba (Ed), a grandson, Aaron Johnson both of West Branch; Stepchildren Kathy Crawford (David) of St. Helen, Robert Treat of Fenton, David Treat (Pam) of West Branch, Debbie Campbell (Larry) of West Branch, Linda Cordes (Rick) of Hillman, Sally Bertossi (Brian), Laurie Temple (Tim) and Steve Treat all of West Branch. There are 30 step grandchildren and 20 step great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara and a grand-daughter, Christie. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #2022, West Branch Kiwanis Club, was the Master of Ceremonies for the Kiwanis Variety Shows for 23 years. Jim also volunteered for the Ogemaw County Literacy Council and the West Branch Regional Medical Center. He was a former trustee with the Kirtland Community College Board. Jim enjoyed painting, dancing, golfing, bowling and reading. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00PM. to 8:00PM. at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, West Branch. There will be a Scripture Service on Sunday Evening at 7:00PM. followed by the K of C Rosary at 7:30PM. Jim's body will lie in state on Monday from 10:00AM. to 11:00AM. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00AM. at the Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Tolfree Foundation or The Ogemaw County Literacy Council. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
