James "Jimmy" D. Moore Sr.

James “Jimmy” Donald Moore Sr., age 68, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 31, 2014. He was born to Donald and Minnie (Wiltse) Moore in Ogemaw County on December 11, 1945. Jim lived in Flint, MI during his childhood years before moving to North Carolina where he raised his family. Once Jim retired, he enjoyed retirement on Sage Lake and golfing at Greenbrier Golf Course. Jim was the past president of the Sage Lake Association where he enjoyed spending his time on the water fishing. He was also an avid hunter and a car collector. Jim was in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kay Moore of Sage Lake; children: Christine (Eric) Malone of Charlotte, NC, James Moore Jr. of Raleigh, NC, and Jennifer (Philip Mitchell) Nieuwstadt of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Zoey, Ashley, Kayley, Hudson and Jacob; siblings: Dick (Joan) Moore of Milford, MI, Jan (Bill) Johnston of Naperville, IL and Lois Moore of Lake Oswego, OR. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, September 6, 2014 starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Operation Injured Soldiers at http://www.injuredsoldiers.org/donate
