John G. Burton

John G. Burton, age 61 of West Branch, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at his home. John had lived in West Branch for the past 40 years, formerly of Redford. He was a retired art teacher at Whittemore-Prescott High School for 25 years and he recently co-owned Artisan Alley in downtown West Branch. John enjoyed painting, photography, camping, riding his motorcycle and his 3 dogs, 2 golden retrievers and a chocolate lab. John is survived by his children, Matthew (Sarah) Burton of Kentwood and Jodi (Keith) Thompson of St. Clair Shores, grandchildren; Jack Thompson, Andrew Burton, Ty Burton and Adam Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret Burton. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Dan Stoneback will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions be made to the Ogemaw County Humane Society.
