John Mike Zienkiewicz

John Mike Zienkiewicz, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital. He had lived in Alger since 1979, formerly of Detroit, MI. John “Lefty” was born to Mitro and Helen (Szal) Zienkiewicz in Somerset County, PA on May 30, 1925. Lefty was known as the best fisherman around and made his own baits. He was the first one on the water and the last one off.

Lefty is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Larry) Pulliam of New Baltimore, MI; son, Alan Zienkiewicz of Allenton, MI; 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Zienkiewicz, son, David Zienkiewicz, daughter, Donna Griffith, brother, Herman Zienkiewicz, and sister, Lori.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
