Joshua Duane Porter

Joshua Duane Porter, 33, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw, MI, as a result of injuries he sustained in a truck-deer accident on October 23, 2015, in Ogemaw County. He was born to Clifford and Debra (Riselay) Porter on May 31, 1982, in Saginaw, MI. Josh graduated from Ogemaw Heights High School in 2000 and attended Kirtland Community College for two years. Josh was a plumber by trade and was employed at West Branch Regional Medical Center in the Maintenance Department. Josh was an “old soul” with a huge heart who always wore a smile. He was happiest when the wind was in his face. Whether it be a cross county ride on one of his Harley’s or a day in his boat out on the water searching for the biggest catch, Josh was in his glory. He enjoyed hunting and hanging with family and friends. Josh was also a “jack of all trades.” He could fix anything no matter how big the problem, you could call on him day or night to get the job done. If he didn’t have the exact part, he’d make one to get you by until he found the right one. In other words, he didn’t write the book, he was the book.

Josh is survived by his parents, Cliff and Debbie Porter of Lupton, MI; sister, Jaimie (Kevin) Whisman of West Branch, nephew, Nickolas; nieces Alivia and Abigayle; grandma, Edna (Riselay) Hanson of Saginaw and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandpas, Allen Porter and Maurice Riselay, and grandma, Helen (Safe)(Porter) Grossmiller.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Faith Alive Church in West Branch, MI at 4:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends starting at 2:30 p.m. until the time of service.
