Joyce Elaine Steinhurst

Joyce Elaine Steinhurst, age 84, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at The Villa at Rose City. A West Branch resident for 54 years, Joyce was formerly of Tawas, MI where she was born on July 12, 1931 to Andrew and Bessie (Brown) Brussel. After being raised in Tawas, MI she went on to attend business school and was subsequently employed at Anderson Coach where she met her loving husband Robert Sr. Joyce went on to become a devoted homemaker and successfully ran Bob’s Sporting Goods and Hanks Bar where she was famous for her pie and prime rib. Joyce attended St. John Lutheran Church of West Branch where she was a faithful member. Her passions included worshiping in church, painting, cooking, gardening, bird watching, and playing with her dog. She was a 36 year breast cancer survivor. Above all Joyce loved her family, her farm and being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Joyce is survived by her children, Robert (Elizabeth) Steinhurst Jr. of West Branch, MI, Mark Steinhurst of West Branch, MI, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Steinhurst of Shelby Township, MI, and Cindy (Greg) Scott of West Branch, MI; grandchildren, Sara Steinhurst, Markele Steinhurst, Lauren Steinhurst, Jeffrey Steinhurst II, Adrien Steinhurst, Andrea Steinhurst, Taylor Scott, and Thomas Scott; sisters, Audrey Fernette, Bess Toska, and Cindi (David) Bird all of Tawas, MI. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Steinhurst Sr., parents, Andrew and Bessie Brussel, and brothers, Durwood, Jerry and Dwayne Brussell.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch, MI at 1:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Rev. Howard Travis will officiate.
