Karen Kay Kopytek, age 77, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at her home in West Branch surrounded by her family. She was born on January 20, 1946, in Ferndale, MI, to Jack and Genevieve (Lindsay) Klibbe. She lived in West Branch for 14 years formerly of Warren, MI.
Karen was the beloved wife of Casimir Kopytek and together they shared a beautiful life. They married on October 14, 1966, in Warren.
Karen graduated from Warren High School in 1964. She was a dedicated employee, having worked for Federal-Mogul. In addition to her career, she had a passion for catering for weddings, funerals, and events. She even owned and operated Kakes and Katering with Karen, where she showcased her talent for elaborate cake decorating. Karen was an active member of St. Ann's Parish in Warren and St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch for many years.
Outside of work, Karen enjoyed various hobbies such as gardening, cooking, baking, camping, fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with her family. She cherished every moment with her loved ones, especially her children and grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Casimir Kopytek of West Branch; children: Kenneth (Sharon) Kopytek of Warren, Kerry (Kevin) Jarema of Armada, MI, and Kevin (Amy) Kopytek of West Branch. She was also a proud grandmother to Tanner (Erin) Walker, Jenna Jarema, KJ Kopytek, Jessica Jarema, Conner Kopytek, Kevin Jarema; great-grandson Isaac Walker; and her mother Jenny King She is also survived by her sisters Linda Jones and Gayle Elisei.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Klibbe and stepfather, Bill King.
A visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 1:00 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch, officiated by Father Emmanuel Finbarr.
In memory of Karen, contributions can be made to Compassus Hospice.
