Lauretta M. Lehman

October 22, 1913 — February 4, 2005

Lauretta M. Lehman, age 91 of West Branch passed away at her home on Friday February 4, 2005. She had lived in West Branch since 1940. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 64 years, was an active member and officer of the St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women, the S.E. Region Council of Catholic Women and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a member and past president of the St. Joseph PTO and a member of the Farm Bureau for 47 years. Lauretta also served as deputy clerk of West Branch Township for 45 years, was an American Cancer Society volunteer for 44 years and was a charter member of the Ogemaw County Genelogical and Historical Society. Lauretta is survived by her children--Lois (Don) Jandernoa of Grand Rapids, Carol (Ronald) Zakaras of Homewood, IL, Donald Lehman and Wayne (Sue) Lehman both of West Branch, grandchildren--Jonathan, Matthew, Sara and Anne Zakaras and Amanda, Cherie, Paul and Alexander Lehman and her great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jason, Jeffery and Natalie. Also surviving are her sisters, Dorothy McDonald of Flint, Madolyn (Joseph) Buchko of Sebring, FL, Gwendolyn (Haden) Frank of Prudenville and Virginia (Carl) Ballard of Arizona, her sisters in law, Alice Smith of Grand Blanc and Helen Smith of Flint and her brothers in law, Ralph Rogers of Soddy, TN, and Melvin Rich of Englewood, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1997, her daughter Sr. Joan Lehman OP in 2003, her parents Peter and Elizabeth Smith, brothers-- Gerald Smith and William Smith, sisters--Jacquelyn Candy, Genevieve Wright and Joycelyn Rogers, her brother in law--Clifford Wright. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday February 11, 2004 from 1-9 P.M. with a Scripture Service being held at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday. Fr. Robert Bissot will officate with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hartland Hospice, the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund or the American Cancer Society.
