Loren Paul Winsten

Loren “Winnie” Paul Winsten, age 72, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw, MI. He had lived in Sterling, MI for the over 12 years, formerly of Richmond, MI. Loren was born to Loren and Alice (Kuusela) Winsten on February 5, 1944 in Detroit, MI. Winnie was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, and VFW, NRA, AM Vets, the 40 and 8 Club, and the Wertz Warriors for over 20 years. Loren enjoyed cooking, BBQ’s, traveling, entertaining, playing KENO, and playing cards, especially pinochle. He was always “stirring the pot” and loved to make people laugh. Winnie was an electrical superintendent at Selfridge Air Force Base in Harrison Twp. MI and served in the Air Force during Vietnam.
Winnie is survived by his sons, Bryan Winsten of Chesterfield Twp, MI and Dwayne Winsten of Maricopa, AZ; grandchildren, Valerie and Haley Winsten; siblings, Nancy McBride of Alger, MI, Chuck (Kathy) Winsten of Ray Twp, MI, Cookie Nelson of Southgate, MI, Pat (Dorothy) Winsten of Taylor, MI, and Debbie (Willie) Beverlin of Taylor, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Laura (Dennis) Bugg; and brothers in law, Norman McBride and Richard “Rick” Nelson.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI will begin on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. with visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Dan Stoneback will officiate.
