Loretta Spina

Loretta Spina, age 101, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Horizon Senior Living in West Branch with her family by her side. She was born on February 4, 1917 in St. Louis, MO to Giovanni and Antonina (Trupiano) Cilluffo. Loretta was a resident of West Branch since 2010, formerly of Sugar Springs in Gladwin. She married Angelo Spina on June 26, 1937 and celebrated 72 years of marriage before Angelo passed away in 2009. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and was on a league in Gladwin for many years. Loretta was always in the kitchen cooking and baking her Italian recipes for her family. She enjoyed trips to get her hair done and do her grocery shopping. Loretta loved her family and friends and spending time visiting with them.

Loretta is survived by her children, Madaliene (Fred) Booth of Gladwin, MI; Nina Prainito of Port Charlotte, FL and JoAnn (Bill) Johnson of Warren, MI; 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Angelo in 2009, daughter, Virginia “Jinny”, infant son, Michael and son in law, Frank Prainito.

A memorial service will be held at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Longtime friend Pastor Ron Gray will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Compassus Hospice in West Branch.
