Lorraine May Gibson

Lorraine May (Vincent) Gibson, age 91, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region West Branch Emergency Department. She was born on July 7, 1931 in Detroit, MI to Merald and Rouie (Gillies) Vincent.

Lorraine married George “Bill” William Gibson on May 27, 1950. They owned the Gamble Store from 1950-1962 in Prescott, MI. Along with her husband, they were self-employed, hauling milk and farming. She also worked as a school paraprofessional and secretary at Whittemore Prescott Junior High School from 1968 until retiring in 1989.

Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, sewing, art projects, and winters in Florida.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Roger (Kathy) Gibson of Whittemore, Connie (Richard) Colvin of West Branch, Richard (Marie) Gibson of West Branch, Denise (Ed Babcock) Gibson of Roscommon, and Karen (Scott) Bennett of Ninilchik, AK; grandchildren, Patrick (Sarah) Gibson, Julie (Doug) Bernard, Kristan (Greg) Freitag, Jason (Amy) Colvin, Jerrod (Haley) Colvin, Jim Wahl, Warren (Ashley) Wahl, Fredrick (Amanda Mahoney) Bennett, Quinn Bennett, and Sam (Chelsea) Bennett; and 17 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George “Bill”, sister Ilene Burtch, and brother Jerry Vincent.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
