Marcus V. Bunting, age 87, of West Branch passed away Sunday September 14, 2003 peacefully at home with his loving family around him. Mark was the eldest child of John and Alta (Bond) Bunting and was born on February 28, 1916. On September 25, 1945, he married his sweetheart, Naomi McDowell of Fairfield, IL. Mark was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Naomi, sons, Londel K. (Jamie) Bunting of Big Rapids, Rondel R. (Lois) Bunting of West Branch, grandchildren, Amber Bunting of Ionia and Jordan Bunting of Okinawa, Japan; step grandchildren, Barbara, Ray and Abbey, and step-great grandchildren, David, William, Dustin, Angus and Kathryn Joy, brothers, Melbourne "Barney" (Ruth) Bunting of West Branch, Edgar (Isabel) Bunting of Davison, Clyde Bunting of Albion, IL., Richard (Sharon) Bunting of Highland and sisters, Sadie (John) Resteiner of West Branch, Ester Kendall of Farmers City, IL. and Virginia (Leonard) Dungey of Albion, IL. He was preceded in death by step grandson Jack Fritz, his parents, brothers, Nile Bunting and John Bunting and sisters, Cleda Balding, Leno Stennett and Anne Heston. Mark was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of West Branch and enjoyed his church family. He was a veteran of WWII and served 26 months in North Africa and France and was a sergeant over the motor pool of the 80th Station Hospital. He was also a member of the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on equipment in his shop, gardening, and in previous years, golfing. The family will greet friends and loved ones on Monday September 15, 2003 from 1-9 P.M. at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch and on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday September 16, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Mark will be honored by the local Veterans at this time. Burial to be at Brookside Cemetery, West Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to: the First United Methodist Church of West Branch, Hospice and West Branch Regional Medical Center.
