Maxine Temple

September 12, 1930 — March 17, 2013

Maxine Harvey Temple, aged 83, of West Branch Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Maxine was born on September 12, 1930 to William and Mary Harvey in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised in Clarksville, Tennessee but spent the majority of her adult years in Grand Blanc Michigan where she raised six children with her late husband, Billie Gene Temple, who preceded her in death in 1989. Following her husband's passing, Maxine lived in Scottsdale Arizona before returning to Michigan making her home in West Branch. Maxine was a wonderful wife and mother, actively involved in her community and a friend to many. Maxine is survived by her children Deborah and John Redmond of St. Helen Michigan, (Grandchildren Peggy Ellis, Mark, Matthew and David Redmond) William (Bill) and Laura Temple of Clear Water Florida (grandchildren Derek and Lyndsey Temple); Dr. Louis and Julie Chicoine Esq. of Columbus Ohio (grandchildren Courtney, Jaimie and Alec Chicoine); Cynthia (Cindy) and Bryan Sabye of Mesa Arizona (granddaughter Gennifer Sabye); Laurie and Lt. Colonel Lloyd Phinney of San Antonio Texas (grandchildren Leah, Logan and Lexis) and Carey Thompson of Grand Rapids Michigan (grandsons Samuel and Christian). She will be missed by many. In accordance with Maxine's wishes, her family will share a private grave side service. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Helping Hands of Hospice, or her favorite charity Heifer International. Parable of Immortality by Henry Van Dyke I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" "Gone where?" Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There she is gone!" There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up glad shout; "Here she comes!" Good bye Mom! We love you!
