Merritt "Don" D. Babcock

Merritt “Don” Babcock, age 86, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Bortz Health Care of Rose City, MI. Don has lived in West Branch most of his life, formerly of Flint, MI. He was born to Albert and Ella (McCash) Babcock on June 10, 1927 in Marquette, MI. Don was a WWII Veteran and belonged to the Disabled American Veterans. He owned and operated the Jacksonville Store for many years. Don is survived by his son: Michael Babcock of West Branch, MI; daughters: Carol Babcock of Saginaw, MI, Judy (Jeff) Caverly of Gaylord, MI, Laura (Chris) Brown of FL; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and brother: Walter Babcock. He is preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Ella Babcock; wife: Barbara Babcock; son: Donald Babcock; brothers: Lester Babcock & Chester Babcock; and sisters: Evelyn Mc Carty and Eileen Young. Cremation has taken place and there is not a service planned at this time. Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home of West Branch, MI.
