Mike Ignat, age 85, of Prudenville, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Munson Healthcare in Traverse City. He had lived in Prudenville since 1981. Mike married Patricia Mae Kilp on March 27, 1965 in Wisconsin. Mike was a member of St. James Catholic Church, American Legion Post #245, Ducks Unlimited, and National Wild Turkey Federation. He was one of the founders of Houghton Lake Kiwanis Club, Society of St. Vincent DePaul of Prudenville and Roscommon from 1981-1983, executive director of Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce for 15 years until retiring in 1997, and was a partner with Houghton Lake Holiday Inn. Mike is survived by his wife Patricia M. Ignat of Prudenville, daughter Carmen (Walter) Wanczycki of Buffalo, MN, sons, Paul (Michelle) Ignat of Wesley Chapel, FL, Michael (Dawn) Ignat of Houghton Lake, and daughter, Maria (Eric) Townsley of Scotsdale, AZ. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jon Michael, Jane, Jenny, Jeanne, Nickolas, Matthew, Jenael, Michael A., Courtney, Kelli, Hayden, and Lucy. He is preceded in death by sister, Carmen Ignat. Visitation at the St. James Catholic Church in Houghton Lake will begin Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 10 AM until 12:00P.M. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 12:00P.M. Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Ignat Scholarship Fund.
