Norman Lavon Shepard

June 15, 1930 — April 13, 2016

Norman LaVon Shepard, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, MI. He was a resident of Sage Lake in Ogemaw County for the past 25 years, formerly of Flushing, MI. Norm was born to Raymond and Lucretia (Bellinger) in Rosebush, MI on June 15, 1930. He married Elizabeth Snider on September 5, 1952 in Rosebush, MI. Norm worked as an Iron Worker Supervisor for Commercial Contracting in Troy, MI for over 25 years, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed boating and water sports, feeding and watching the birds, and all types of sports. He especially enjoyed the many family gatherings at Sage Lake with his grandchildren and was their biggest fan in all their activies. Norm was an avid golfer and would spend several days out of the week golfing with his buddies on a golf league at Greenbriar Golf Course.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Liz Shepard of Sage Lake; daughters, Pam (Bill) Zeigler of Charlevoix, MI and Ann Campbell of Troy, MI; daughter in law, Theresa Shepard of Flushing, MI; grandchildren, Zachary Zeigler, Seth (Carole) Zeigler, Mallory (Tony Gerard) Shepard, Paige (Justin Solack) Shepard, and McKenzie (Benny Hill) Shepard; great grandson, Mason Zeigler; and brother, Milan Shepard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucretia Shepard; son, Scott Shepard; and siblings, Robert Shepard, Larry Shepard, and Linda Rothlisburger.

Per Norm’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time.
