Paul J. Short

Paul J. Short, age 77, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 peacefully at his home, with his wife Helen by his side. He was born in West Branch, MI on August 26, 1939 to Paul and Helen (Bridges) Short who was 1 of 13 children. Paul graduated from Bay City Handy in 1958. He entered the Army 82nd Airborne. Paul married Helen Bowyer in Bay City, MI on April 20, 1963. He worked as an insurance agent and was able to enjoy many years of retirement with Helen. He was very active and raced motorcycles and snowmobiles in his youth. Later, he enjoyed canoe racing and cross country skiing with his family. Paul and Helen wintered in Florida, where they loved canoeing and biking.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen Short of South Branch, MI; son, Tony (Holli) Short; daughter, Diana (Brian) Mersmann; grandchildren, Austin, Kylee, Gavin and Landon; siblings, Marion, Orville, Beverly, Clarence, David and Dennis. He was also loved by his sisters in law, Marcella Hodder, Sandra Wisniewski, and Madeline Jarvis; and many nieces and nephews, including Bud and Kim Short. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen Short and 6 siblings.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
