Paul Laverne Longstreet

October 26, 1929 — July 11, 2016

Paul Laverne Longstreet, age 86, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home in West Branch, MI with his family by his side. He had lived in West Branch for over 50 years, formerly of Manton, MI. Paul was born on October 26, 1929 in Manton, MI to Harry and Ruth (Jenkins) Longstreet. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. While in high school, he worked part time as a butcher. Paul then began his career as a Michigan State Police Trooper and later worked as the Chief of Police for the City of West Branch for over 23 years. He was awarded the “Key to the City” in 1975. He was a member of the West Branch Creative Arts Association and owned and operated the Arts and Crafts Studio in West Branch for 27 years. Paul created stain glass windows for many business and churches in town. He enjoyed working on stained glass artwork, framing, along with hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, June Longstreet of West Branch; children, Greg Longstreet of IN, Sally Musoff of Cadillac, MI, Wayne Mauppin of West Branch, Paula Smith of Lapeer, MI, Gay (Ken) Landenberg of Flushing, MI, and Tania (Mark) Frank of Metamora, MI; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way; siblings, Hal Longstreet of Manton, MI, Hugh Longstreet of Manton, MI, Rubedene (Robert) Hill of Cadillac, MI and Marjorie Tossey of Cadillac, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, George, Earl, Maxine Weaver, Harry “Jock”, and Glen.

A private family service and burial will be held.
