Richard James Mularz Jr., age 51, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home in West Branch, MI. He was born on February 5, 1970 in Bay City, MI to Richard and Deanna (LaPan) Mularz Sr.

Rick graduated from Pinconning High School in 1989 and started college at Delta College, where he received an associate’s degree. He then went on to Ferris State University and received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 1994. Rick had been employed with the State of Michigan as a supervisor for Michigan Department of Corrections in the probation and parole offices.

On August 31, 1996, Rick married Kara Wing in Houghton Lake, MI. They have lived in West Branch since 1999.

Rick loved hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping and trips with his family. He was full of fun and laughter. He was a prankster who loved dad jokes. There was never a dull moment, especially if there was a karaoke machine around. Rick was active in the community as a Little League coach, soccer coach for AYSO, and a travel softball coach for the Ogemaw Outlaws, along with many more. He loved animals and at times could be found with a camera or gear in his hand helping his wife with her love of photography. The love he had for his family and making memories with them was most dear to him. He had an impact on all who knew him.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Kara Mularz of West Branch; daughters, Kassidy (Dennis Quigley) Mularz and Alexia (Ryan Lucas) Mularz all of West Branch; mother, Deanna Mularz of Pinconning; brother, Burt Mularz of Pinconning; sister, Loretta Mularz of Pinconning; niece, Courtney Marquiss of Bay City; nephews, Dylan Marquiss of Pinconning and Derrick Marquiss of Newport, RI; and many extended family members.
