Richard Kenneth Cryderman passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Marilyn Cryderman and his 6 children: Dave Cryderman, Carol Gibson, Lynn Robson, Ken Cryderman, Mary Beth Loeb and Karen Shrum. Richard was grandfather to 10 grand children: Kent Schwandt, Jeri Schwandt, Mac Schwandt, Erin Robson, Alan Robson, Jarad Gibson, Avery Gibson, Ethan Gibson, Katelynn Shrum and Hannah Shrum. Sister Mary Jo Stoughton also survives Richard.
Richard was born on September 3rd, 1933, and spent his childhood and school years in Waterford, MI with parents George and Wilma Cryderman. As a young adult, Richard served his country for 4 years in the US Air Force. He worked as a jet engine mechanic while stationed in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and played on the Air Force football team in Japan.
Richard moved back to Waterford, MI to marry Marilyn and start their family. During these years, he coached grade school football for 6 years and was a Boy Scout troop leader for more than 15 years.
Richard was employed at General Motors Corporation as a test driver at the companys proving grounds for more than 15 years. After deciding to take early retirement and follow his enthusiasm for the outdoors, Richard moved to Northern Michigan to own and manage a campground. Richard and Marilyn operated Twin Oaks Campground in Wellston, MI for 18 years.
In retirement years, Richard and Marilyn sold the campground to travel the United States for more than 10 years. Richard spent his remaining years with his wife in Michigan close to family.
A Memorial Service will be held in July. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements were handled by Steuernol McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City, MI.
