Robert Dale Urbain

Robert Dale Urbain, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 19, 2016 at his home in West Branch, MI. He had lived in West Branch since 1989, formerly of St. Charles, MI. Rob was born on July 10, 1954 in Owosso, MI to LaVern and Della (Stoddard) Urbain. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Branch since October 20, 1991 where he served as a Lay Leader. He was a teacher for the Junior High in St. Charles. While he was teaching in St. Charles, he coached the boys and girls basketball teams. Rob then became a principal and worked at Rose City Elementary, Reese Puffer Middle School in Muskegon, Elementary School in Prudenville, MI and the Houghton Lake Middle School. He recently was teaching Intro to Teaching at Kirtland Community College in Roscommon, MI and worked at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home for the past 4 years. Rob loved his family and any kids were like his own. He was a competitive card player and enjoyed croquet.

Rob is survived by his brother, Larry Urbain of St. Charles, MI; sisters, Karen (Robert) Gregor of Gaylord, MI, and Judy (Rev. Ernesto Mariona) Mendyk of St. Charles, MI; companion, Donald Leet of West Branch, MI; many nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, LaVern and Della Urbain and brother in law, Gary Mendyk.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Tim Dibble and Rev. Ernesto Mariona will officiate.
