Robert L. Gohm

December 24, 1935 — March 13, 2006

Robert L. Gohm (Bob) 70 of St. Helen, formerly of Bay City, devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather passed away March 13, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Gohm was born on December 24, 1935 in Bay City to Henry and Gladys (Beaver) Gohm. He was one of eleven siblings. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Grover)Gohm, daughters; Susan and Ernest Brayman of Sterling, Debra and Fred Simms of Pinconning, Jan and Joseph Kraska of Standish and Lisa and Mick Gonyaw of Twining. There are also nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bob also leaves behind two brothers; Ron (Dorothy) Gohm, Henry a/k/a Hank Gohm Jr.; two special sisters, Nancy (Guillermo) Cruz and Edith Snyder, and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Gladys Gohm, a brother, Billie Gohm and sisters, Mary Jane Gohm, Gladys Gohm, Grace Hanson, and Dorothy Syring. Mr. Gohm retired from Grey Iron Foundry in 1991 and was a member of the UAW. He was known as a "jack of all trades"; electrician, plumber, carpenter, and welder. He took great pride in his work and in his family. He taught his children the importance of family and showed them through his courage how to live strong. He had a big heart and was the first to help those in need. On many occasions he was known to give up his seat to a lady, to help the elderly, or weld something for a neighbor. Our memories of him will include fishing in a creek, driving his family around the lake on the pontoon, teaching his daughters how to hunt or swinging a hammer. His grandchildren will also remember how their grandfather taught them to drive. He loved to be on the water, or picking blueberries or searching for morels. He had that special something that drew people to him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 15, from 2:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, 702 St. Helen. Rd., St. Helen. Funeral servives will be on Thursday at 3:30P.M. from the Assemble of God Church in West Branch. Mr. Gohm will lay in state at the church from 2:30P.M. to the time of service. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen, Michigan
