February 25, 1939 — January 20, 2005

Robert R. Oliver, age 65 of West Branch passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on January 20, 2005 after a seven year battle with lung disease. He was born February 25, 1939 to Ray and Beulah (Kaiser) Oliver and lived all of his life in West Branch. Bob was a member of the Churchill United Methodist Church and he drove for the Ogemaw County Transit for many years. He was known and loved by all his passengers, especially the youngsters who affectionaltely called him "Grandpa Bob". Bob is survived by his wife Sarah of West Branch whom he married on August 2, 1969, son Jeffrey (Terri) Oliver, two grandchildren whom he adored, Jacob and Katelyn all of Prescott, his brother, Ronald (Bea) Oliver of West Branch, his nephew Ronald Lee (Tina) Oliver of Prescott, five great nephews, Kyle, Kevin and Kody Hamilton, Chase and Dillon Oliver and a great niece Karrie Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece Michelle Hamilton. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday January 22, 2005 from 6-9 P.M. and Sunday from 1-9 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday January 24, 2005 at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas Spencer will officiate with burial following at Selkirk Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch or to the Churchill United Methodist Church. A special thanks to Hospice of Helping Hands for all of their care and concern these past months.
